Kangaroo Valley Bush Retreat Wedding
Hidden in the incredible bush, deep in the Southern Highlands, is this absolutely magical place to get married. I’m absolutely stoked to show you Tash and Hugh’s Kangaroo Valley Bush Retreat wedding!
An Incredible Kangaroo Valley Bush Retreat wedding
On a beautiful (and surprisingly cool!) day in January I drove down the mountain into Kangaroo Valley for Tash and Hugh’s Bush Retreat wedding. There are some venues I have the pleasure of shooting at that just feel really special, and this is one of them. It’s a little off the beaten path – but not too much that getting there is a hassle. It’s deliciously private. You’ll share your wedding here with your guests, and about a thousand wombats, but no other people! There are also a heap of absolutely lovely cottages on site, so lots of your guests can spend the entire weekend with you at the venue.
Tash and Hugh were a perfect fit for KVBR. For them, the day wasn’t so much a ‘wedding’, but a party at which they also happened to get married. They both got ready on-site at one of the many cottages. Lots of their guests got ready on site too which I think it just super convenient.
Bush Retreat epicness: The Rock Cathedral and the Sunset Deck
While I love absolutely all of this venue, there are two aspects that never fail to impress me, no matter how often I see them. First, the incredible unique ceremony location, affectionally named the Rock Cathedral. It’s a beautiful and intimate corridor between giant boulders. A ceremony here feels like you’re one wth nature and with the bush around you, and it’s quite incredible. The second aspect I adore is the sunset deck. It’s a short walk from the Rock Cathedral, and is where the venue normally serves canapés. It is INCREDIBLE: 180 degree views to the far horizon through the valley.
After getting ready, and the beautiful ceremony, we all made our way to the reception space for canapés (we didn’t use the sunset deck due to potential bad weather). Then Tash, Hugh, the wedding party and I went for a stroll around the venue to take some photos. We clambered over boulders, and wandered around soaking up the incredible bush. We then made our way back to the reception to eat and drink.
