Southern Highlands Marquee Wedding | Sophie + Andrew
I’ve actually known Andrew – the dapper guy in the Southern Highlands marquee wedding below – for around 32 years or so. To be honest I can’t remember meeting him back in 1985. In fact he may not even have been born yet! That was the year that I was attending pre-school in Sydney with his big sister. Somehow she and I managed to stay in touch, and then when her little bro got engaged, she passed my details on to him. And that’s how I ended up meeting Andrew and Sophie.
The location for this Southern Highlands marquee wedding
Sophie + Andrew’s wedding took place at Sophie’s parents’ farm in Moss Vale. The ceremony was in front of the property’s lovely cottage, and for the reception a wonderful White Top Events marquee was put up.
I really enjoyed spending the day with these wonderful, caring people. They made me feel at home and comfortable, and to be honest it is days like this that I really appreciate my job. It was also great to be able to spend time with a friend that I’ve had since pre-school, which is not something I think many wedding photographers can say!
Other marquee wedding options
You might not have access to enough land to put up a marquee, and if you’re in this position but you still want to get married in the Highlands, you have a few options. You could find a venue that has a permanent marquee. A great example is this Growwild Wedding. Alternatively you could look for a venue with a permanent marquee out of the Highlands. One of my favourite shoots so far was this Allview Escape Blue Mountains wedding.
I’d love to hear from you if you’re planning a Southern Highlands marquee wedding – or any wedding in the Bowral area, marquee or not – and are looking for a photographer!
