Southern Highlands Backyard Wedding
I absolutely adore when couples do things a little differently on their wedding day. This Southern Highlands backyard wedding is a great example of how you can have an epic celebration with friends and family without hiring a dedicated wedding venue.
An epic Southern Highlands backyard wedding
I’ve known Jen and Greg for quite some time. Jen’s sister is married to my brother’s wife’s brother (see if you can wrap your head around that one!) So there were a few familiar faces at this wedding. The whole thing took place in the small Southern Highlands town of Exeter. The day began at Vine Lodge where both Jen and Greg prepared for the day. This I quite like weddings where couples get ready in the same location – logistically this makes things quite a bit easer for me, not having to drive between properties for getting ready photos.
Jen’s hair and makeup was by Nikita Lauren, who did a wonderful job as per usual. I always try to find some nice random place to hang a wedding dress and on this occasion found a ladder that was perfect for the job. Jen’s beautiful dress was by Karen Willis Holmes.
Meanwhile Greg was getting ready in a different room at the same property. His dapper suit was by P Johnson Tailors; I seem to have been photographing lots of their wonderful suits lately!
Jen and Greg had a lovely first look, then after a few bridal party portraits we moved to the ceremony, which was in the backyard of a local property. I loved the ceremony tent, which complimented the reception tent well – both by South Coast Party Hire. For portraits we went back to Vine Lodge which has wonderful grounds for photos.

Rustic Catering served up an incredible feast, and we went straight into speeches. I love listening to the wonderful speeches each weekend at my weddings – it’s one of my favourite parts of the day, and this Southern Highlands backyard wedding did not disappoint.
