Merribee House Wedding

Con and Ky’s Merribee House wedding was wonderful. Here’s a little about how it went down.

Let’s just get one thing straight here at the start: Merribee is AWESOME. You might have driven past it and thought how cool it looks. But you could also be forgiven for not even knowing that it exists. It’s located in this incredibly private enclave of farmland in a tiny village called Numbaa, which is near Nowra. You drive along country lanes, through paddocks full of nice fat cows and long green grass. It’s a truly special area.

Merribee itself is hidden from the road by a bunch of tall trees. It’s a wonderful collection of farmhouses, manicured gardens, open fields, nice crunchy gravel to walk on, and a really cool old silo. You can even get ready for your wedding inside the silo.

An epic summer Merribee House wedding

I met Con + Ky a few years back at Amy + Bec’s wedding in Kangaroo Valley. We only chatted briefly but when Ky’s enquiry came through, saying that he wanted me to shoot his Merribee House wedding, I was super stoked. There’s a cool thing about word-of-mouth referrals in the wedding industry. If you really liked hanging out with one couple, and really enjoyed their wedding, then another couple who were guests that day ask you to also shoot their wedding, chances are you’re going to love that wedding too. I loved spending time with Amy and Bec, so it’s no surprise that I really enjoyed spending the day with Con + Ky.

Con and Ky both got ready for their Merribee House wedding on site at the venue. Con was in one of the cottages, and Ky was in the silo. I walked between these two buildings to get shots of each of them getting ready. It’s a short walk – just a few minutes. The Merribee ceremony location is wonderfully shaded so there’s no harsh sun to deal with. There are SO many wonderful photo spots that you never even have to consider going off-site for photos. The reception was inside the wonderful barn, complete with exposed beams and wooden walls.
