I’ll never forget the first email that Sandra send me: ‘Hi there, we’re looking for a Croatia wedding photographer!’
And so, In 2014 I spent a month island-hopping along the coast of this incredible country called Croatia. During that time I also was able to be the photographer at this beautiful wedding on the rugged island of Rab. I was absolutely amazed at this Croatian coastline; one minute you’ll be passing flat, earthy and barren mountains; the next you’ll be looking at hopelessly azure waters lapping at tiny fishing villages.
I don’t think this was as much a ‘wedding’ as it was an ‘adventure’. Around 80 guests came all the way from Australia (although many came from other places too: Serbia, Spain, and of course from Croatia itself’. The ceremony was on a tiny beach on Rab. Afterwards we drove into the old town and wandered around the ancient paths, stopping here and there to soak it all up.
Sandra had a vision for the reception: she wanted rows and rows of lanterns along the beach, and that’s exactly what she made happen. We danced and danced, and I think I got back to my room at around 3am, from where I looked out my window down to the beach and saw everyone else still partying.
This was one of those weddings that I just wish I could do all over again. The place, the people, the weather… it was all just wonderful, and I’m truly happy to have been involved.
I’d love to shoot more weddings in Croatia, so if you’re looking for a Croatia wedding photographer, please get in touch. I love to travel – in fact last year I spent a few weeks in Africa with Nomad Adventure Tours.
