Alex + Sean’s Centennial Vineyards Restaurant wedding was on a wet, cool day in early 2020. I absolutely adore summer weddings that are unseasonably cool and wet (in fact, my own wedding was just like this!). The result is often a wonderful day with really interesting photo opportunities. A rainy Centennial Vineyards wedding
Alex and Sean are both from the Highlands, so they both got ready locally. I love the challenge of arriving at a house where my couples are getting ready, and walking around and looking for nice light, nice places to take photos. It’s the many small challenges like this that make up a wedding day, and it’s these that keep things interesting every weekend.
In fact I think for a while there, it was touch and go as to whether the ceremony would be inside or out. In circumstances like this I think it’s pretty much always better to go ahead with a ceremony outdoors. The guests can all use umbrellas! And most ceremonies don’t last more than ten minutes anyway.
I’ve worked with the wonderful celebrant Sue Jackman so many times that I kind of feel like we’re related. It’s always a joy to see her smiling face when I arrive at a ceremony (especially when it’s raining), and this Centennial Vineyards Restaurant wedding was no different.
As if Centennial Vineyards wasn’t lovely enough in then sun, for me as a photographer it comes alive in the wet. The colours are so lovely, and it’s so wonderful to look over and see the fireplace roaring at the reception.
Centennial Vineyards Restaurant Wedding Vendors
My job is made WAY easier when I’m working with some amazing wedding vendors. Alex’s makeup was by Nicole Hill Makeup. Hair was by Nicole McFaddi. Alex wore an amazing dress by Karen Willis Holmes. Flowers were by my wonderful friends at Clementine Posy. You can’t go wrong with those guys!
I’ve shot quite a few Centennial Vineyards Restaurant weddings. You could head over here and check out Lucy and Cai’s Centennial Vineyards wedding. Also make sure you have a look at Tara and Robert’s Centennial wedding.
Alex and Sean, I loved being a part of your wonderful wedding. Thank you so much for asking me to document your day!
